Curiosity/Flight Framework
At KPSquared, curiosity is our curriculum.
Our Curiosity Framework aligns closely with Alberta’s FLIGHT: Early Learning and Care Framework, which views children as mighty learners, capable, resourceful, and full of potential.
This framework invites educators to move beyond instruction and into observation, reflection, and co-learning. Rather than asking children to fit within a program, we design environments and experiences that grow from their natural wonder. Educators follow children’s interests, document their thinking, and extend learning through open-ended exploration, conversation, and collaboration.
The Curiosity Framework is grounded in the science of brain development and the principles of emotional safety. We know children learn best when they feel secure and connected, so every learning experience begins with relationship. This combination of curiosity and attachment-based practice helps children develop executive functioning, emotional regulation, problem-solving, and creative thinking, all essential skills for lifelong learning.
By integrating the FLIGHT Framework into our daily practice, KPSquared ensures each child’s learning journey is meaningful, visible, and deeply connected to their identity, relationships, and community.
